MB design

I'm not an artist.

When I describe myself, I never use that word. Why?

Well, because graphic design—solid graphic design—isn't just art. It's communication by way of color and photo and typography and story and texture and feeling. It shouldn't be up to interpretation like a Rothko painting. It's telling you something. Making you pay attention, making you react. And if it's not, then I haven't done my job.

Listen—I enjoy a good book. But I truly delight in a detailed creative brief. Because design that's not built on strategy isn't design at all. It's art.

I'm not an artist.

I'm a storyteller. I'm a communicator. I'm someone who relentlessly chases every right answer to any difficult question. I'm a graphic designer.
